I love this place. Great food and even some yummy choices for a vegetarian. Service generally very good, too. My first choice for Mexican food in Apple Valley.

This is not a true quality Mexican food service is not good charge you for everything & you pay more for less! Not coming here again its gringo food!..

  • Gretchen L.

Awful! Just awful! Service was beyond horrible and the food tasted like it was frozen then microwaved. Such a disappointment.

    (1)
  • Jennifer B.

Food is overpriced for what you get. Seriously, I get more meat on a $1 classic del taco. Chips were store bought. They were Not freshly made. Will not be coming back.

    (1)
  • Charles Robina P.

Food took way to long to come out. Food was bland. Good liquor drinks. Waiters left cups empty for long period of times. No place if you in a hurry

  • Elizabeth M.

Given this place a try twice and both times I come out of there wanting to puke?? Not sure what's in the food or what they cook their food in but it makes me sick! My son got sick too! He threw up in the restaurant after eating his quesadilla.

  • Melinda S.

I absolutely love this place!! The bartender makes yummy strawberry margaritas!! They have really good vegetable enchiladas and rice. It's nice having vegetarian options other than a bean and cheese burrito at a mexican restaurant.. They have a pretty good wait staff too. I've never been left waiting very long.

  • Megan W.

Place was ok. After being seated it took awhile for a server to come get our drink order. I asked for a strawberry margarita on the rocks, and it came to me blended. My husband asked for a coke and iced water and he was only brought the water. He had to re-ask for the soda. Took a long time for food to come. Everyone seated around us had the same look on there face as we had on ours, "what's taking so long?". Food was good though once it came. I got the grilled fish tacos and my husband liked his chicken enchilada and chicken taco.

Viva Maria has good solid Mexican fare, and is always one of my top options for a quality Mexican restaurant with decent ambience (so many restaurants look either run-down or downright dirty!). I like their salsa for their chips, but it isn't spicy enough for my tastes, though probably a little spicy for most. I've always had friendly service there, though they do seem a bit understaffed during peak times. I would recommend trying Viva Maria. You may be pleasantly surprised.

  • Mario F.

I love this place. They are one of the better mexican restaurants with an authentic mexican experience. The only reason that I didn't give 5 stars, is because of the neighborhood. Last time I went a few months ago, there was a shooting in the liquor store next to the Am/Pm on the corner. My family and friends heard bullets whizzing by. So, I haven't been back since. If you live in Apple Valley, you know "Felony Flats" is in their backyard. Sorry Viva Maria. Your food is excellent and your margaritas are better.

Im not sure why the first reviewer did not like this place. The service is absolutely first class. Maybe it has just improved since they went there. I live 2 blocks away from viva maria and go there all the time. If you sit in the bar the service is more bar-like, and if you sit in the restaurant the service is near perfect. The food is great, and if you go to the bar on tuesday they have an awesome happy hour and absolutely wonderful tacos. Long live viva maria !

  • Jessica M.

The one star is for the chips and salsa. Burrito was served with ranch dressing. Mexican ranch? No. I immediately discovered why it was served with dressing - VERY bland. Then when I asked about the avocado that was supposed to be in my burrito the waiter went back to the kitchen, came back and told me the chef put 2 pieces in. I finally did find one quarter size piece of avcado. For $10.25 I can find a better burrito pretty much anywhere. Also friend's Chile Colorado tasted disturbingly like dog food. Do your wallet and stomach a favor and eat elsewhere.

  • Renee S.

Had the surf and turf burrito, it was so good and I'd definitely order it again , now this place isn't in the best neighborhood if that's a big concern for some of you but the food I've tried was really good.

  • Brian E.

This place hands down is the BEST place to eat and drink in the area . I have been to so many different Mexican restaurants and there is no place like this place. Their drinks are great and their food is great too. I definitely would have to recommend this place to all of my friends and family . The service in s great , too !

  • Ashley B.

The food was good and the service was excellent. The prices were a little high, but overall we left full and satisfied.

  • Raina D.

This place is disgusting! My Fiancé and I had just been seated and sipping on our drinks when a roach crawled on the wall in the booth we were at. My fiancé killed it. We flagged down a waiter and complained about the roach and he got the manager who said they didn't have a problem with roaches. Another roach crawled up the wall and we paid for our drinks and left. I would never go back there again.

  • Michelle C.

Gross gross gross!! Don't know how this place is still open! Over priced for the tasteless product you receive. Being Hispanic you'd think they know flavor but I guess I was wrong!! Never will go back!

  • Chuck T.

Awesome menu selection excelent service and great food even though it was a little pricey

  • David W.

Had a very nice dinner here. The service was polite and the food was very authentic. I had the California surf and turf burrito and it was amazing!

    (4)
  • Mia B.

Great service and good food. I had the mango blended margarita and cheese enchilada both good. Not a fan of the refried beans. Everything else good.

    (4)
  • Amanda B.

The Mexican food is sooo good here! The restaurant is always clean and there is hardly ever a wait for a table. My family and I love going here!

    (4)
  • Joel R.

The food is excellent and the service too .we order the new steak and cheese enchiladas, and it's a big portion. The flour tortillas are hand made and the beans are off the charts. We love it here!!! Excellent and friendly service

  • Tim W.

Love this place. The service and food is outstanding. The sunday brunch is well worth it. Best budlight on tap in the desert.

  • Ed M.

Dont go there we got kicked out for noticing that the bartender was wearing a glove went to clean/unplug a toilet and went right back to bartending with same glove on. She was also making ala carte plates for patrons after that and getting into the ice. We contacted manager which was also in bathroom with her and he denied everything and said she washed her hands which we know isnt true cause she came out with same glove on. Waitress then comes over and tells us to get the F out. Good thing we had just got there and not ordered any food. Do yourself a favor and DONT GO unless you want to get sick

    (1)
  • Dottie M.

Margarita great!!! Chips are hot and fresh! Not excited about the Carnitas taco. It was more like a cut up pork chop in a corn tortilla.

  • David V.

Best Mexican restaurant in the high desert. The area nearby looks a little rough, but never had a problem the many times we've gone. Food & service is excellent, atmosphere is great, & the margaritas are really good!

    (5)
  • Adrian L.

The atmosphere inside is excellent. The music and decorating style make you feel like your really eating at an authentic mexican restaurant. The service was friendly. The chips and salsa were great. The fish tacos were some of the best I've ever eaten. Top notch dining experience, highly recommended if you live in or near the AV.

    (5)
  • Tracey W.

I would say this is a good place to eat if you want a nice sit down Mexican restaurant in the high desert that doesn't look super run down. Their fried ice cream is really good too.

    (4)
  • Sara C.

Love it. The burritos are huge....can get two meals out of it. I love the combination meals. The chips and salsa are really good.

Hit the jackpot on the way back from Vegas with this restaurant. An unbelievably amazing all you can eat brunch, friendly staff, clean with a great ambiance. Omelette bar, enchiladas, carnitas, chile relleno, and tons of other great entrees. What a pleasant surprise! Highly recommended!

  • Cliff C.

Been coming here for at least 20 years. Love this place! Great food, friendly and attentive staff and not to pricey. Sunday brunch is always good!

  • Cameron A.

Viva Maria's is an excellent restaurant. Every time we go, the food is awesome and the service is on point. Jaime has been our waiter several times and he is friendly as well as attentive. This is one of the few Mexican restaurants that I've been to that has homemade tortillas, and they are absolutely to die for. We have yet to be disappointed by anything at Viva Maria's, and we will continue to come for a long time. Thanks!

  • Jessica R.

love coming here with my family great service nice and friendly waiters

    (4)
  • Memo C.

Heard much about this place and I was not impressed! Food was ok rice tasted old and fajitas were not cooked completely the veggies were still uncooked. Margaritas are good that gets them 2 stars. I ordered flan for dessert but it tasted old and why do they add chocolate to it flan should be served without toppings, it just kills the taste unless they're trying to change the old and refrigerated taste. don't think I will be back.

Birthday party Chris everywhere waitress. Little annoyed but loosened up after a while.we kept moving out of her way.. Mistake on check added drink that I didn't order. Only one at affair that don't drink

I ate two servings of chips before dinner. My co-workers gasp! Ask for the HOT Salsa! Definitely yummy! Nice atmosphere, excellent waiter, and highly recommended by a Mexican colleague!

great food, fun, cute little restaurant. neighborhood is a little sketchy but this place is nice, service was excellent.

Apple Valley sure has changed in the last 40 years. Tried it Friday morning for the first time on recommendation of a local. Since I had a long rainy drive ahead stayed light with the carnitas tostada. Very good. I'll be back for carnitas enchaladas and still interested in the relleno.

    (4)
  • Frances L.

I was very pleased with this restaurant. The chile relleno I ordered was flavorful-was not encrusted in cornmeal batter, rather a light egg batter and was covered with a delicious cheese mixture and it was on a bed of papaya or was it yams? Anyway, it was delicious -it was the best chile relleno that I have had in the States. The tamale was dry but when the delicious green sauce was put on it WOW! Finally a restaurant that realizes you can be spicy but not flaming hot-too many make that error and instead wind up making a bland green sauce. This was so good! I am going back there and try out the brunch. Thank you Viva Maria for being a delicious restaurant. Oh, I might add the place was clean and inviting, staff friendly and service was very good. I never thought I would say this about a Mexican restaurant but it would be a good place for a date. Hapenny521

GOOD CHIPS N SALSA. Food is ok NOT the best but resturant is very clean and people are freindly. I tried the fish tacos and they were ok my hubby had a wet burrito and he said the meat tasted re-cooked. I ordered dessert the fried ice cream and that tasted old to me. Will probably not go back =(

New and improved... Service great, a little over priced on the al la carte menu.

  • Roy S.

This place was good at one time but not anymore. The service is horrible and the food is average at best. I am convinced that THE WAITER PUT DRUGS OR POISON in our salsa I would guess for making a valid complaint several years prior. This was on Valentines day evening. I would say food was tainted by mistake but this was way beyond that. I felt like I was drugged while we were still in the restaurant before even leaving. A half hour after leaving my girlfriend was vomiting and this continued till the next day and we both felt very sick for several days. Both of us had not had anything to eat together that day so it could not have came from anywhere else. My advice,...DO NOT GO HERE.. ONCE AGAIN,...I am convinced that THE WAITER PUT DRUGS OR POISON in our salsa...DO NOT EAT HERE.

A surprisingly good Mexican jewel in the middle of the High Desert. Mango Basil or Pineapple Chipotle margaritas are the bomb! Love the Guadalajara Wraps and really everything on the menu is top notch! It's a must visit for me whenever I find myself in Apple Valley, and I live in San Diego!

Viva Maria's has good food, efficient service, and pleasant decor. I like the lighting for an evening meal--none of those fluorescent lights! The waiters are not chummy or invasive, but are quick to refill drinks, salsa, or chips. And the food is consistently good, even interesting. I love the steak pastor, the tamales, and the chile Colorado.

I've been to Viva Maria's twice when visiting family in Apple Valley, over a several year span. They love this restaurant. It's a great place to bring a big group, because there really is something for everyone. Apparently, they have a karaoke night each week. Sorry we missed it! We were there on a Friday night this past trip, and there was live music. Now, it wasn't some big mariachi band or anything like that. Just this sweet old man doing a one man band thing with a keyboard and trumpet. My baby cousin is 3 and got a huge kick out of it, she was dancing around everywhere. My fiance isn't the biggest fan of Mexican food (which sucks because I love it), but he was able to have the Chicken Caliente with rice and veggies. The caliente description refers to the temperature on this dish, not the spiciness, so he liked it. I had the enchiladas with beans and rice. The enchilada sauce was a little tamer than I'm used to, but it was good. I was also impressed with the shrimp cocktail one of my cousins ordered - it was HUGE in a deep margarita glass. By the end of dinner, we were all too full for dessert. But reading some of the other reviews, I'm going to have to save room next time we're in the desert!

One of my favorite places in Apple Valley. Great prices and nice menu. Servers are the best! Very friendly, almost family atmosphere. I always try to make a stop there when I am in town. The food is delish!!

  • Maggie V.

The one time I have ever asked for a refund in a restaurant because I felt that strongly about the lacking food quality. I was refused. It's too bad since we've been customers since it opened and we like to support our local businesses, but when it comes to what's right, solid businesses practices and customer appreciation count - not to mention the FOOD when you're a restaurant. Won't be back, so sad.

  • Doctor D.

Service was ok, could have been a little more attentive and refilled out drinks sooner. The soup came with fresh avocado but it was very brown in color so we asked to get a better piece that wasn't brown. The server took it back and returned with the same cup of soup now with a new scoop of avocado but it was already all mixed up for me..tortillas and sour cream all mixed in. Flan was awesome!

Nice atmosphere, good service, and a great Grilled Vegitable Burrito. Super Salsa and excellent tastey Guacamole. One of the nicer Mexican Restaurants in the High Desert. Good food - we will go there again!

Normal world 3, but a high dessert 5. One of the only places worth going in this devolved wasteland of humanity. The food is actually really good and the atmosphere is nice and friendly. This places makes the list of 5 or 6 restaurants in the victor valley actually worth going to.

When the place open up our family enjoyed going there weekley and sometimes twice. Great food. Great owner. Great waiters. Always working and willing to make things right if something you dont like. So this review is good. The food is awesome. The only problem I have on this place is the "bar" part. Thats a total different place. I use to go there years ago when it was live and everyone loved monday night football. Good drink specials and free appetizers. But in the last 3 years it changed. It started actually about 3 years ago one day. I went in with my regular drinking guy. He usually pays for the drinks all the time. But we where breaking up but went for a one drink talk and break as friends. That was cool. We got there. We drank a few drinks each. He paid for them then had to leave. I was a little buzz and figured I had nothing to do....so I would drink one or two more. But I gave the keys to the bartender. Beginning to say I will not drive. I never drink and drive. My mom called to ask how it went. She knew I drank and offered to pick me up....she is a block away. She came and I picked me up and left car there for a few hours while I sober up at home. But I did sign a reciept before leaving with my credit card for the drinks I drank. The next day I look at bank statetment it said over 67 dollars in drinks. That I drank. I was shocked.....no one. I had 1-2 long islands that where on SALE and thats all I can drink. I know this limit because i Had the gastric by pass and I dont drink much. I asked them to pull up a list of ALL the drinks that where made. They do NOT keep a record of what drinks are made. Just the tab. Come on. The guy (i broke up) came back to say that he left me no bill and they agree that he did pay our tab before he left. He was offended what they did to me. They took advatage of me. That was very wrong and hurt. I went the other days to drink with my brother........I told my brother to KEEP an eye out for anything weird and he does the money deal. He did because I warned him. Only ONE drink was on special for happy hour....a cheap margarita.....anything else was way over regular price. Thats not what their happy hour menu says. MOnday night football night. Anyways we had a drink each and he ordered a drink to go home and it came out to almost 40 dollars. Like I said the food is good. But the bartender rips you off on drinks (double charging).....Keep an eye out. Pay as you drink and get a recipt for everyone. DONT do a running tab on him.

This place rocks! They have the best margaritas in the area. They must free pour, because I am always very happy with the strength of their maggies. The food is always consistently good and we receive wonderful service from Chicho, Victor, Ernesto and Matteo! Try their mexican shrimp cocktail. It's like a cold soup served in a huge martini glass with loads of shrimp. Absolutely fantastic plus it's low on calories and fat but not low on flavor. Everything here is really good but I also love their chile rellanos!

    (5)
  • Penelope K.

I have had the best flan here! They make a very creamy, rich flan that is to die for. I came once with a friend long ago and was joking with the waiter that I could only eat the red tortilla chips (they served red and yellow together). He knew I was joking but he came back with a basket of only red chips! I was really young and can only hope that I gave him a really good tip...

I took my older kids just before school let out for the summer for a "nice" dinner. What a disappointing experience. The staff forgot about us, but eventually took our order. We waited almost 45 minutes to get our food, which was cold. My daughter knocked her drink onto her plate, and all over our table and although there was staff who saw we had to clean it up ourselves. I tried to be a good sport, but our food was ruined, and they didn't even offer to replace our meals which we had just started to eat. We ordered fried ice cream for dessert but by them I was really quite annoyed with the lack of attention. When asked "was everything ok?" I spewed out my disappointment and was told that they would not charge me for the.... fried ice cream. oh yay. Don't even bother. A better choice would be Fonda's Mexican on Hwy 18 and Apple Valley road behind Vallejo gas station. I'll never put my family through that again.

Went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago. No wait, seated immediately. Staff was very friendly and worked great together. Always had chips and salsa on the table, drinks were always filled. Food was delicious. Would definitely recommend eating there!!

Very good mexican food, nice laid back atmosphere. Tried it out b/c of reviews on Yelp and it was great for lunch. We had the mini tacos and they were great. No complaints.

The handful of times I've eaten Viva Maria, I've always loved the food. Among the dozens of selections on the menu, every entree I've tried has been great-- from the fried cactus salad to the enchiladas to the fish tacos. I also love VM for the homey, cozy atmosphere that makes you feel that you're well cared for and yet remains authentic and classic. I always look forward to returning to VM's, and I hope they remain in business and going strong!

Great atmosphere and food,! Restaurant is very clean and the servers are friendly. Love their carne asada plate and their fajitas are really good too! A definite must try is the fried ice cream, best in the H.D.!!!

I kind of want to write a crummy review so I can selfishly keep this gem of a restaurant just for us in-the-know locals, but I know I should share and lying is wrong, so must tell you that this place is fabulous, and just as described by the well-deserved complimentary reviews. The atmosphere is authentic, soothing and tasteful, the service gracious and skilled, the menu varied and delicious, and the margaritas simply the best around. Viva Maria indeed-please don't ever leave us!

Viva Maria!!!...Viva Maria!!!...yes, Viva Maria's is one of the best Mexican food restaurants in the Southern California high desert. Located off Highway 18 in Apple Valley, CA, this establishment offers some unique and different Mexican food items that I personally have not found anywhere else. My personal favorite is the Caesar salad. Now for those of you who don't know, the Caesar salad was invented at Caesar's in Tijuana. There are many variations, including the one offered by El Torito (which I like, but it is not a true Caesar), however, Viva Maria actually comes the closest to the original. I have eaten there several times, and it has always been good. I also recommend the chile con carne...it comes close to homemade, if not dead-on. Everything is always tasty, the beans and rice are scrumptious, and they make a good salsa. 5 fingers for Viva Maria!!!...ole'

I love the decor of this place. Have only been there 3 or 4 times over the past 7 yrs though. I found the food to be generally bland and service to be friendly but slow. There are many mexican restaurants in the area with much better food. Maybe if you order enough margaritas or something you won't notice the food is bland... Once every year or two I give them another try and am disappointed again.

I've been coming here for about 20 years now and met a lot of friends here, made new friends, got to know the staff real well and they treat you well here.Well, something happened here recently. They changed ownership.Hey,it happens, but this change of ownership happened while Marina the bartender and longest working employee(20+ yrs) was on vacation visiting her mom and family. She came back only to find out she has no job! Yup,the new owners let her go with no other reason except that he wants to be a bartender and just doesn't need her anymore. For those of you who frequent VM's you know that Marina is a great bartender and has been for many years. She a overall great person and has a big following and I feel she has been "unjustly" released from duties with a" less than poor excuse" With this said I no longer will frequent this place as I feel they are not worthy of my business, nor from the many, many friends,Marina's regulars.friends friends, friends who brought friends in,families in.I no longer will bring my families in from out of state as I always did....and trust me they all liked it here and they all liked Marina very much!.I will tell them "NO" when they ask if we can come to Viva Maria's! So,new owners...I think you should "Check yourself" and ask yourself if you made a wise decisision!!?Because I'll tell you,it won't be long before you realize that you did not!!! Sincerely !! Anthony M Gonzalez.....You'll know me as Tony

Absolutely disgusted sitting here eating this not authentic chicken tortilla soup no flavor too it has more chicken broth from a can than actuall boiled chicken broth who puts crema or mayo on top of soup & tortilla chips you can buy the bag at vallarta for $3.00 there not fresh or toasted here Steak picado too much juice THIS IS NOT REAL Mexican food they may have everyone fooled but this is unsatisfactory prices outrageous I'll believe it if the quality and taste was good but it's NOT!!

bad experience all around! Firstly ordered a "regular" Budweiser and got Bud light. secondly wife ordered sangria, got tequila sunrise. asked for large bowl of salsa (which was extremely watered down) and got small cup. server did NOT seem to understand us. food was just "ok" had better. came here upon a recommendation and will NEVER trust that person again to recommend a restaurant. Maybe we're just spoiled brats because the restaurants down the hill are excellent. ;(

Had the Menudo for take out. Very delicious friendly service. Amazing Creations inside the restaurant . Next time will dine in they did forget to hand me the chips I had order, had to drive back to pick up. But they were very thoughtful and gave me extra chips plus salsa too Thank you truly great service.

My family and I have been frequent visitors of VM"s for 20 yrs. we have met great friends throughout the years but more so called many that we met family especially many of the the employees. We received some very disturbing news today that the new owners have let a very valuable asset to this business go. The bartender Marina was fired after returning from a family vacation without explanation. Let me tell you this amazing lady has a huge following and was very loyal to her job !! She always provided great service and poured the best drinks in the high desert!! She brought great hospitality in which Is why my family brought multiple families and friends to experience VM's....well no more my friends !!!! I will never return and promise to spread the word to this still small community...this is what one should never forget the word will travel and this business will suffer greatly. I encourage all who read this to filter all business elsewhere spread the word !!! See you all at LosDomingos !! And don't forget ones loss is another mans treasure Marina will find better employment where the owner appreciate her hard work and dedication like she gave for the past 20 years! Shame on you new owner I believe in Karma !!!

Really regular or less than average quality and quantity food. The decor seemed nice but dark to yellow colored. I had a $10 Mexico City burrito that was really only worth $5

You are trippin if you gave this place less than 4 stars. Had their Rosarito fish tacos, and wow... I see what all the hype is about. Never been a huge fan of grilled fish tacos (I tend to go for the deep-fried battered fish), but I see now why my co-workers urged me to try them. The plate comes with rice and beans (I opted for just beans and no rice since I'm trying to eat healthier), and the tacos have a generous portion of grilled fish on top of a crispy bed of cabbage inside a flour tortilla and are topped with slices of fresh avocado, creamy chipotle tar tar, and pico de gallo. Yummy! I found out that they don't re-fry their black beans in lard, which is great for someone like myself who is trying to make healthier food choices, but I thought it was weird that the beans were swimming in liquid. Looked like bean soup, but it tasted good. Not sure how I feel about the boiled corn cob sitting on my plate. Pretty much devoured everything else and ignored the corn haha. Maybe if it was chargrilled I would have paid it more attention, but it was just an extra thing on the plate that I didn't care for. All of us ordered the fish tacos, and that in itself proves how great they are! Bottomless chips and salsa here are also delicious. Chips taste homemade and are thin but oh-so-crispy. Someone at the table always manages to eat the whole basket before our food comes out. I'm glad the office is only a short drive from this restaurant!

The interior is a bit nicer than most mexican restaurants in the HD, though a bit hektic. They have too many servers doing not much, you get chips before even sitting down, they were ok but nothing special. My husband and I shared the fajitas for two which were about $25, a bit more than I'd like but it was enough for both of us and fajitas are always expensive. We got the steak and veggie, rice and beans was fine as well. Don't get me wrong it was great, but there are so many options in the area that I think taste better and are cheaper. Plus, all the waiters bustling around kill the romantic nice dinner vibe they would have going on otherwise.

Very good chips and salsa. Very, very good margaritas... but only on special in the bar (where you get a funky size for a price not good enough to sit at a tall table). I had shrimp fajitas, which were also good. My friend W had a steak dish where the meat was too tough to chew. Dark interior. Decent service from our waiter.

Our favorite Mexican Food place in the High Desert!!! We go there so much they know our drink orders when they walk up to the table!!! The food and service are always excellent and I enjoy their salads as much as the Mexican Food. They have great Happy Hour specials on Fridays if you sit on the bar side and the Champagne Brunch on Sundays is excellent as well.

Nice place for lunch. Great meal...a tad slow, but acceptable. Good chile Colorado. Would go back and recommend.

I love this place. They have THE VERY BEST Chile Rellanos I have ever tasted. The staff is fast and effecient. The Mole sauce is really good as well. I can't vouch for anything else they serve because I always get the Chile Rellano (TO.DIE.FOR!). The beans and rice are good. We usually go in large groups and no one in our group has ever complained about the food or service. I will for sure be back!!!

Delicious. I went with my Danny a while ago. We just had drinks made by the 17 year veteran bartender lady who was AWESOME! It's the only time we've ever gone out for drinks that I only had to order one... it was the incredibly intoxicatingly delicious Bahama Mama. The chips and salsa were delightful... We got double salsa, 'cause it's so good, you could drink it. Danny had the shrimp tacos (see picture I posted). They were described to me as VERY good. They were full of shrimp, but the double corn tortilla did buckle a bit under the heavy load it was holding (that's what forks are for, I said). The beans and rice (black beans not pintos) were also yummy... or I'd assume so, because I never really got to taste much of it (my man ate every last bite). Great place to go for a date or intimate family get together. The interior is rather dark and lounge-y, but in a comforting Cantina sort of way. The staff is friendly and accomodating. All in all, great. I'll be going back very soon. Thank you Viva Maria!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
